Audio Research is one of the oldest continually operating manufacturers in American audio.

Founded in 1970, Minneapolis by William Z. Johnson (Bill). The goal was to continue using vacuum tubes at a time when they were being replaced with transitors which were cheaper, easier to implement and ran cooler.

Besides the opposition his principles encountered, Bill is now considered one of the founders of today’s high end audio world, as well as being well-ahead of the game during the renaissance of vacuum tubes that began in the 1980s.

Audio Research continues its dedication to unparalleled musical expression and crafting components of the highest quality and lasting value for its customers.
